To reduce body fat, you should burn more calories than the calories you consume. This causes a calorie deficit, resulting in a fat loss. You can achieve this objective in two ways: consuming fewer calories and burning calories by exercising. Though people choose either of the two methods to lose fat, the fastest, the easiest and the long-term way is to combine both the methods. Eating more and exercising more is far better than starving, which lowers the metabolism, thus slowing the fat-burning process. Exercise plays a vital role in keeping your metabolism high, thus speeding up the process of burning fat.
One of the more popular forms of exercises is aerobics. It comes from the word aero, which means oxygen, because it uses oxygen to burn the fat. It is also called cardiovascular exercise because it improves your heart rate. You should perform this activity for a long time to derive maximum benefits.
You can perform aerobics at different intensities. Many people think that exercising at low intensity is better because your body consumes fat as energy while working out at high intensity your body uses carbohydrates as fuel. But this is a myth. What is important is that you should burn more calories at the end of the day to cause any visible fat loss. Hence high intensity exercises are highly beneficial as they burn higher number of calories and keep your metabolism high.
Duration also plays an important part in aerobics. Longer you exercise more calories and fat you will burn. Combining low intensity and high intensity aerobics will prove more effective than following either of the methods. Start with low intensity exercises for 30-45 minutes and then switch over to high intensity exercises lasting for maximum of 30 minutes. Perform low intensity exercises on an empty stomach early in the morning and high intensity exercises 1-2 hours after a meal to use carbohydrates from the meal as fuel.
Always perform aerobic exercises at least thrice a week, as per your goal. It will complement your healthy lifestyle and control your body fat. There are many cardio equipments that are fitted with monitors to allow you to check your heart rate and the amount of calories burnt. Remember to keep your breathing heavier than normal. You should be able to carry on the conversation while breathing heavily. If you cannot, lower the intensity.
